August 2020, SWMI Housing Market - Sales up 15% At Record Shattering Sellings Prices

“The August 2020 SWMI housing market continued the frantic pace started in June. While the summer months are typically referred to as ‘the peak selling season’, the number of sales from June through August has accounted for 57 percent of year-to-date home sales. August sales, selling prices, and total dollar volume escalated well past previous peak year records dating back to 2006.,” stated Alan Jeffries, Association Executive, Southwestern Michigan Association of REALTORS®, Inc.

July 2020, SWMI Housing Market - Sales up 51% From June At Record Shattering Selling Prices

“Homebuyers in the SWMI housing market unleashed their pent-up demand again in July with astonishing increases in the number of houses sold from June to July and year-to-date. Last month the selling prices were startling and record-setting. In July, the selling prices again set records in the year-over-year comparison that dates back to 2006,” stated Alan Jeffries, Association Executive, Southwestern Michigan Association of REALTORS®, Inc.

June 2020, The Housing Market in South Haven 49090 and SWMI

The South Haven housing market has not seen the return to a more normal market after the lifting of the shelter-in-place restrictions as most of SWMI has experienced. Selling prices soared by double-digits.

The number of single-family house sales was still down 25 percent compared to June 2019 (18 vs. 24). There were two condo sales compared to 3 in June 2019.Year-to-date, single-family house sales were down 24 percent (91 vs. 115). Condo sales, year-to-date, declined 28 percent (13 vs. 18).

June 2020, SWMI Housing Market - Sales up 124% From May At Record Shattering Selling Prices

“After months of shut down, the pent-up demand lifted the SWMI housing market back up by 124 percent in June compared to May. In May, only 142 houses were sold, setting the lowest number of sales in the year-over-year comparison that dates back to 2006. In June, 318 houses were sold,” stated Alan Jeffries, Association Executive, Southwestern Michigan Association of REALTORS®, Inc.
